My Story
I migrated from the UK in 2005 to live in the Adelaide foothills. I started yoga in 2008 as a parent of young children, finding yoga beneficial in helping release stress and tension (both in body and mind) and improve my flexibility and movement. Another bonus was the friendships I made from regular class attendance.
Fast forward to 2019, I developed an age-related health condition and chronic pain. Through this time, I rediscovered the benefits of yoga; however, this time with a deeper understanding of the connection between the mind and body, and how breath can be used to help calm the nervous system and help reduce pain symptoms. Through my recovery, my yoga practice changed with greater emphasis on gentle, mindful movement and a regular breathing practice. Just to be clear, my yoga practice has always been complimentary to conventional medical treatment, and I strongly adhere to people seeking advice from licensed medical professionals.
A goal of my recovery was to to develop a practice suitable for people who may have limited mobility, and/or were managing injuries and who may or may not have chronic pain.
This led me to complete my 200-hour Yoga Teaching Training Course and Senior Chair Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Social, Adelaide. Since completing my training, I have taught both chair and mat yoga classes at community centre throughout Adelaide.
I am excited to share my love of yoga and help people experience the healing benefits of yoga.
